Bio | Dr Brad Ridout is a Senior Lecturer in Cyberpsychology with the Faculty of Medicine and Health and Deputy Chair and co-founder of the Cyberpsychology Research Group. Brad’s main research focus is developing evidence-based e-mental health treatments using social media, virtual reality and other digital health technologies. Through this, he aims to the address barriers to qualified treatment young people in particular face such as cost, stigma, and accessibility. Brad is currently working with Kids Helpline on ‘My Circle‘, the world’s first secure and anonymous social media platform for supporting the mental health of young people through online group counselling, and a partnership with Westmead Hospital to build the evidence-base for the use of immersive virtual reality experiences to address adolescent distress while enduring long waits in emergency. |
