I have over 30 years of experience working in healthcare systems in Australia and internationally, and in the tertiary education sector. I hold a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Information Management (USyd) and Master of Commerce (UNSW) specialising in Organisational Behaviour and Industrial Relations.
I am a Health Information Manager (HIM) by profession and have lectured in this discipline at The University of Sydney and more recently at the University of Technology Sydney. Currently, I coordinate health data and information management subjects in the Master of Health Services Management program, as well as digital health and information management subjects in the Bachelor of Health Sciences course.
My teaching focuses on assisting health and social care professionals, managers and leaders to better understand, analyse and use health data and information in their practice, and enhancing the health literacy skills of consumers. My research interests lie in electronic health records, digital health initiatives and data management particularly in aged care.
