Bio | Dr Juliana Chen is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (Dietitians Australia). Juliana is a lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Sydney and a conjoint senior lecturer at Macquarie University. Juliana’s dietetics health services research, which commenced through her PhD, has driven innovation in the delivery of virtual patient dietetic care, particularly via implementation of mobile health apps in the nutrition care process. This research has informed population digital health policies by NSW Ministry of Health. Her expertise was also drawn upon for the Dietitians Australia’s position paper on telehealth, released in response to the COVID-19 pandemic impact on traditional in-person dietetic care. Juliana also is nutrition lead of the AU-ARROW multidomain lifestyle intervention to reduce dementia risk (part of the World‐wide FINGERS network), where she has combined her dietetics and research excellence to ensure translatable dietary intervention delivery through blended in-person and virtual care. Prior to joining the University of Sydney as a lecturer, Juliana worked as senior dietitian in Macquarie University’s Health Sciences Centre (MQ Health) and the Nepean-Blue Mountains Family Metabolic Health Service. There she delivered effective medical nutrition therapy for prevention and management of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, dementia, metabolic syndrome, amongst others. |
