Kim started her career as a management consultant in North America and Europe, focusing on the impact of emerging technology to deliver new customer value propositions and operating models. She then took operational roles with an e-Learning start-up and The Body Shop, which honed her ability to execute a strategy within different organisations. She moved to the healthcare industry with AstraZeneca in Australia, leveraging her experience with consumer engagement analytics and marketing to design and build a novel, highly engaging support program for cardiovascular patients, then went on to lead Strategic Planning, Commercial Innovation in Australia. She joined AstraZeneca’s CTO office in Silicon Valley, acting as chief of staff to the CTO in setting up the function, led an external innovation lab scouting new technologies and delivering proofs-of-concept with start-ups partners, and worked with business divisions on digital transformation including a major re-design of the clinical trials function. Her human-centred design approach includes framing long term trends with diverse stakeholders, and then ensuring actionable, iterative steps that deliver both business results and continuous learning and adaptation. She is passionate about the diffusion of healthcare innovation into the community, whether through existing providers or empowering new services in the home.
She holds a degree in systems design engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada (with a focus on sociotechnical systems) and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
