InnoWell is a joint venture between The University of Sydney and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) working on co-designing, building and implementing technology-enabled solutions for Australian mental health services reform.
The technology solution is known as the Synergy Online System (Synergy). More specifically, Synergy is a customisable digital toolkit to assist assessment, monitoring and management of mental health issues and maintenance of wellbeing. It does this by collecting personal information (including health data) from consumers and their service providers. This information is stored, analysed, and reported back to consumers and their service providers to promote collaborative care partnerships. The clinical content is determined by the service provider. Synergy does not itself provide stand-alone medical or health advice, diagnosis or treatment. Instead, Synergy guides and supports (but does not direct) consumers and their treating service providers to decide what may be suitable care options.
InnoWell is also responsible for the delivery of Project Synergy, which is a series of research trials across the lifespan – including younger children and their families, young people, adults and the veteran community, healthy ageing – designed to measure the impact of Synergy in Australian mental health services. The research trials are funded under the Australian government’s Digital Mental Health Program. Importantly, Project Synergy brings lived experience, clinicians and service providers together with researchers and technologists to achieve its aims.
InnoWell has subcontracted the research services of The University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Centre to provide a Project Synergy R&D Group. The R&D Group leads the Project Synergy trials, in collaboration with a wide range of mental health service providers including for example – Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service, headspace and The Butterfly Foundation’s National Helpline.
Project Synergy recently launched their new website synergy.innowell.org
